Job Description

Are you a seasoned diesel technician ready to take your skills to the next level? Join our team as a Diesel Mechanic II, where you'll tackle advanced diagnostics and repairs across engines, fuel systems, electrical networks, and transmissions-both OEM and aftermarket.

In this hands-on role, you'll also lead and mentor technicians, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with DOT and AutoZone standards.

From air conditioning and brake systems to software updates and vendor collaboration, you'll be at the forefront of keeping our fleet running smoothly.

Responsibilities



* Performs general maintenance on tractor trailer to include minor engine repair


* Performs trailer maintenance (includes tires, brakes and lift gates)


* Maintains inventory


* Diagnose and perform advanced repairs to all systems including but not limited to engines, fuels systems, electrical, data networks, driveline and transmission to include OEM and approved after-market


* Acts as coach/trainer for Level I technicians

May Include:


* Preventative maintenance (i.e.

tires and minor engine repair)


* Air conditioning repair/maintenance


* Air brake certified


* Perform trailer maintenance (i.e.

brakes, tires and lift gate repair)


* Maintain inventory control of parts room


* Completes all required AutoZone and DOT documentation- Diagnose and perform advanced repairs to all systems including but not limited to engines, fuels systems, electrical, data networks, driveline and transmission to include OEM and approved after-market


* Identifies areas of opportunity and takes initiative to research and recommend solutions

Qualifications



* Minimum 5 years of technical experience in diesel equipment repair


* Ability to diagnose and repair complex systems (engines, fuel systems, electrical, driveline, transmission)


* Proficient in using AutoZone-provided diagnostic and programming equipment


* Skilled in retrieving and applying vendor diagnostic tools (e.g., Detroit PSL)


* Strong problem-solving and research skills to identify and recommend solutions


* Ability to collaborate with external vendors for ongoing technical learning


* Understands how departmental goals align with corporate objectives


* Provides leadership, coaching, and training to Level I technicians


* Must complete ARC training annually
