Dietary Aide (Wait staff)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


* Learn and follow food service routines within a short period.


* Set up meal trays and strip down returned trays.


* Operate the dishwasher; observe and record water and chlorine temperatures.


* Wash dishes and maintain clean dish areas.


* Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks.


* Prepare nourishments and assist with grocery storage in a safe and organized manner.


* Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including surfaces, refrigerators, and floors.


* Sweep, mop, and take out trash and garbage as needed.


* Work cooperatively with cooks and dietary supervisors.


* Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.


* Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory duties.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:


* High school diploma or equivalent required.


* Previous dietary or food service experience preferred but not required.

Certificates and Licenses:


* Must obtain and maintain a valid food handler's certificate.

Language Skills:


* Ability to read and understand technical procedures and recipes.


* Able to follow written and oral instructions.


* Capable of effectively communicating with supervisors and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills:


* Ability to apply basic math, including fractions, ratios, and percentages, in daily tasks.

Reasoning Ability:


* Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).

Physical Demands


* Frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.


* Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.


* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.


* Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment


* Work is performed in a kitchen setting.


* Exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
