Manager of Software Engineering - Fullstack Applications

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking and Operating Technology Division, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities


* Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities.


* Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.


* Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements.


* Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems.


* Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.


* Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems


* Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.


* Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.


* Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements.


* Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on SDLC concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience.


* Experience leading technology projects.


* Experience managing technologists.


* Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.


* Demonstrated proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and React.


* Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods.


* Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.


* Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.


* In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.


* Practical cloud native experience.


* Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.
