Youth Environmental Interns
Job Description
As a Youth Environmental Intern, you will be part of a dynamic summer initiative that brings together young people (ages 16–21) to explore careers and issues related to environmental protection, sustainability, and public service.
This is a paid opportunity to gain leadership skills, work on real-world projects, engage with professionals from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), and contribute to your community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Actively participate in all program activities including workshops, field trips, site visits, and hands-on projects.
* Contribute to group discussions and teamwork with other youth participants and CHO staff.
* Support local environmental and sustainability projects, which may include urban greening, environmental education, data collection, and public outreach.
* Practice and develop skills in observation, journaling, note-taking, and presenting ideas.
* Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and respect in all program settings.
Important Notes:
* Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
* Transportation between Stevens Institute of Technology and all field visit locations will be provided.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Must be between the ages of 16 and 21 at the start of the program.
* Able to commit to the full 5-day-a-week schedule for the program duration.
* Interest in environmental justice, public service, or community development is a plus.
* Must have reliable attendance and follow program expectations.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation Range
In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the hourly base range for this position is $15.49 - $15.49.
This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations.
The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials.
