Senior GIS Specialist

The Riverside County Department of Registrar of Voters is seeking a Senior GIS Specialist for the Operations Division for the Riverside location .

The Senior GIS Specialist will be responsible for working on difficult and complex research projects involving mapping and creating new layouts, precincts, and county boundaries, maintaining multiple databases (ArcPro, ArcGIS, EIMS Election Management Systems), reviewing work for compliance and code interpretation, and managing LAFCO package creation for customers.

This role involves supervising and training two employees and auditing and reviewing team projects to ensure accuracy and completion.

The most competitive candidates will have working experience in elections, as well as knowledge of ArcPro, Java Script, Python, and SQL.

Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

At this time, the position has the opportunity for a hybrid telework schedule based on business need, however, job expectations, at times, may require in person interaction.

Telework may change at any time and you will be expected to report to the office.

The incumbent will be required to work in the office full time during elections due to the volume of work.

PLEASE NOTE: Incumbents must be available to work weekends and holidays, including mandatory overtime based on departmental needs.

The Senior GIS Specialist is the advanced journey level classification in the GIS (Geographical Information System) Specialist class series and reports to a GIS Supervisor Analyst.

This class is characterized by the performance of technically complex computerized and GIS mapping tasks requiring considerable technical skill, independent judgment, and specialized experience and knowledge.

Incumbents have a thorough understanding and proficiency in computer map drafting and perform complex analysis and interpretation of a variety of information for accurate revisions or construction of products.

Incumbents may act as a project lead and provide task supervision in addition to training and providing technical guidance to other technical staff.
