Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Senior Scientist for the Medicinal Chemistry team at our site in Toledo, Spain.

Johnson & Johnson is now expanding our small molecule capabilities into peptide therapeutics at our site in Toledo, Spain.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced medicinal chemist to contribute to our peptide drug discovery programs and advance them towards the clinic, with the profile indicated below.

Based on your professional experience and educational background, we have the flexibility to tailor the position's level and responsibilities accordingly.

Key responsibilities:


* Develop peptide synthetic strategies using state-of-the-art science and drive productivity in the laboratory setting.


* Contribute to build the automated peptide synthesis infrastructure and collaborate across groups and sites to further develop our global peptide chemistry team and expertise.


* Contribute to the design, synthesis, and identification of oral peptide drugs.


* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the development of this platform (Global Discovery Chemistry, In Silico Discovery, Discovery Technology, Molecular Pharmacology, etc.), and act as an internal expert on peptides synthesis within the Global Discovery Chemistry organization.


* Proactively provide project status updates to key stakeholders, through various channels including in-person and virtual meetings.

Qualifications:


* PhD degree in organic, medicinal, or peptide chemistry, or a B.Sc.

/ M.Sc.

degree with an equivalent level of relevant experience.


* Strong background in peptide chemistry and respective technologies with a commitment to lab work.


* Experience in oral peptide design strategies, including half-life extension approaches and incorporation of unnatural amino acids is preferred.


* Track record of scientific contributions (peer reviewed publications, patents, oral presentations).


* Excellent written and interpersonal skills with strong relationship management abilities.
