Are you passionate about sports and enjoy working with youth and adults in a fun, energetic environment? The Beverly YMCA is looking for dedicated Sports Program Staff to help run engaging and dynamic programs for our community!
About the Role:
As part of our Sports team, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality sports programming, fostering skill development, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves sports, coaching, and building relationships in a team-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and assist in basketball skills & drills clinics, helping participants improve their game.
⚽ Facilitate preschool sports classes on Friday mornings, introducing young children to the fundamentals of sports in a fun and engaging way.
Support the Men's Basketball League by managing the scoreboard, tracking team scores, and sending out weekly updates to participants.
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all athletes and families.
What We're Looking For:
✔️ Enthusiastic individuals with a passion for sports and youth development.
✔️ Experience coaching, refereeing, or playing sports (preferred but not required).
✔️ Strong communication and organizational skills.
✔️ Ability to engage with participants of all ages and skill levels.
✔️ Comfortable working evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications



* Passion for sports, youth development, and community engagement.


* Prior experience coaching, refereeing, or playing sports (basketball experience preferred).


* Comfortable working with children of all ages and skill levels.


* Strong communication and leadership skills to engage with players, parents, and fellow staff.


* Ability to run structured drills, teach fundamental skills, and foster a positive environment.


* Basic understanding of scorekeeping, game rules, and sportsmanship principles.


* Experience with email communication and basic record-keeping (helping with men's basketball league logistics).


* CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).


* Availability for Friday morning preschool sports classes and evening/weekend programming as needed.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS


* Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs


* Physically and mentally acts appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances
