Senior Engineer, Controls

The Senior Engineer, Controls collaborates closely with our operations and engineering teams to support and enhance manufacturing operations KPIs and projects.

As a key member of the department, you will leverage your expertise to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure optimal performance of control systems.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior team members, sharing your extensive knowledge and experience to foster their professional growth and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Position is based in Juana Diaz, PR.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:


* Develop and implement technical solutions to improve yields, operational efficiencies and reduce costs.


* Troubleshoot equipment issues using problem-solving tools.


* Provide guidance, support, and coaching to Controls Technicians and other technical personnel.


* Verify and troubleshoot equipment wiring, pneumatics, and automation components.


* Troubleshoot PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.


* Interact with data sources, such as databases.


* Revise and improve Systems and Equipment PM's SOPs.


* Conduct validation activities, including protocols, execution, deviations, and reports.


* Support the definition and execution of engineering studies.


* Monitor and evaluate equipment performance.


* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


* Proficiency using PLC software tools such as Studio 5000, RSLogix, etc.


* Proficiency using HMI software tools such as FactoryTalk View.


* Proficiency with vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.


* Proven experience working with Staubli robots or similar, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.


* Knowledge in applications programming using development environments such as Visual Basic, C++, or any other type of structured text syntax.


* Knowledge in virtualization, and/or exposure to virtualized systems.


* Exposure to automation component troubleshooting and selection.


* Exposure to servo-driven systems, robotics.


* Basic knowledge and understanding of communications networking.


* Excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, and to communicate professionally with individuals at all levels.


* Ability to establish tools and ways of working to ensure accurate and timely follow-up and on-time deliverables.


* Possess strong analytical skills and manage multiple priorities while meeting stringent deadlines


* Strong technical writing and presentation skills


* Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Experience:


* Five (5) years of experience in the regulated medical device or pharmaceutical industry required.


* Three (3) years of experience PLC and HMI programming required.


* Experience in manufacturing equipment implementation projects is highly desirable.
