Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Process Safety Manager to support the operations at our containerboard mill in Cedar Springs, GA.

This role will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of process safety programs and management systems.

Cedar Springs Operations is a vertically integrated pulp and paper mill producing containerboard media with three paper machines.

The Cedar Springs facility is one of the largest containerboard facilities in the country with three paper machines that make different weights of brown paper & containerboard paper.

The Cedar Springs Mill, located in the southwest corner of Georgia is approximately 28 miles from Dothan, Alabama.

Dothan is the 6th largest city in the state of Alabama with a population of about 70,000.

From Dothan, you are only 90 miles from the beautiful Gulf Coast.

You can easily drive to 3 capital cities in 3 1/2 hours or less.

You are just 1.5 hours from Tallahassee, FL and Montgomery, AL.

What You Will Do



* Provide process safety influential leadership for the site, working with another Process Safety Manager and the safety team, with specific focus on ensuring that mill process safety systems reduce risk and assure compliance


* Facilitate and grow process safety ownership across the operations and maintenance organizations through leadership, coordination, and coaching in keeping with risk-based process safety and our Principle-Based Management ™ (PBM) culture


* Lead risk assessments at the facility for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards as well as more formal Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)


* Partner with corporate process safety and compliance IT groups to develop and improve training, tools, and policies that support the sites


* Lead the development of short and long-term process safety objectives, targets, strategies, and measures that prioritize and mitigate risks


* Provide analysis of process safety incidents and near misses to assure sustainable corrective actions are implemented and detailed technical direction to improve process safety performance


* Review and validate process equipment design specifications, safeguard specifications, and operating procedures


* Coordinate the engineering review capability for process hazard analyses (PHA), management of change (MOC), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR)

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)



* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
