Staff Accountant I

Position Summary: The staff accountant is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining daily accounting functions, monthly accruals, financial statement preparation, bank reconciliations, assist with year-end review, balance sheet reconciliation and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for multi-location dealership.

Duties/Responsibilities:
List the essential job duties that are specific to the position.

·        Strong knowledge of GAAP

·        Prepare monthly financial statements

·        Assistance with annual budget and audit process

·        Post journal entries as necessary

·        Assist with annual 1099’s

·        Reconcile all balance sheet accounts

·        Support A/R and A/P with deposit postings, credit overrides, vendor invoice payments including vendor set up, vendor statement discrepancies

·        Communicate with management on expenses and financial statements

·        Reconcile multiple bank accounts

·        Maintain files of tax forms

·        Sales tax reconciliation and payments

·        Monthly FET payments and quarterly filings

·        Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Experience can be accepted in lieu of degree

 

Years of Experience Required:

By Level

Level 1         0 to 5 years of experience in accounting

Level 2         5+ to 10 years of experience in accounting

Level 3         10+ to 15+ years of experience in accounting

Supervisory Responsibilities: Possible that higher level more experienced Staff Accountants will oversee the daily workflow of the department and manage non-supervisory employees

Required Skills/ Abilities:

·        High level of MS Excel

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·        Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

·        Organizational skills and attention to detail.

·        Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·        Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

·        Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Physical Requirement’s:

·        Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
