Senior Consultant, Scientist (Mid-Level)
Environmental Resources Management, Inc.
(ERM) is seeking a self-starting, dynamic Senior Consultant, Scientist to support the ERM team in Walnut Creek, CA. This position focuses on working closely in collaboration with a larger team of natural resources specialists to review environmental requirements and constraints and coordinate field staff for post-clearance activities for various construction sites for a utility sector client throughout California.
As a member of the team, you will act as an ecologist in the Western U.S.
This position will focus on wildlife and wildlife habitat, focusing on species at risk and species of concern.
This will include vegetation: biological and waters resource mapping, field survey coordination support, and data management and quality assurance for ERM projects in the energy sector.
The successful applicant will have experience with habitat mapping and field surveys, as well as environmental effects analysis and offset/compensation planning.
More broadly, the applicant must show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve complex challenges in these sectors.
This role has potential for career growth with the successful candidate having opportunities to directly interact with clients.
The successful candidate will be a member of a large multidisciplinary Vegetation Management team in the U.S.
and will become a member of an extensive team of global environmental and social experts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develop and lead field programs primarily in the Western US.
* Develop and conduct vegetation and habitat mapping.
* Conduct field programs for wildlife, including birds, amphibians and large mammals.
* Perform project delivery activities including but not limited to field surveys, data collection/assessment/QA, literature reviews, report writing, and developing recommendations for clients.
* Ensure quality standards on project deliverables and timely delivery of reports.
* Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients in support of field activities, as required.
* Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees worldwide.
REQUIREMENTS:
* BSc or MSc.
degree in Biological Sciences, or related field.
Or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years of environmental consulting experience; prior experience in government, and/or mining or oil and gas sectors are considered assets.
* Environmental Assessment experience.
* Expertise with federal, provincial and territorial regulations and guidelines pertaining to survey methodologies and environmental assessments.
* Statistical analysis or spatial mapping skills an asset.
