Calibration Specialist

The Calibration Specialist (CS) is accountable for providing support, training, and implementing continuous calibration improvements.

The CS will support, advise, and provide recommendations for laboratory equipment, laboratory purchases, uses, and care of equipment and support systems for equipment and buildings.

This position will support the review of calibration and other MMO documentation, certifications and procedures and make changes where necessary.

With the implementation of new equipment, it will be the responsibility of the CS to gather and create required documentation and incorporate these documents into the laboratory equipment tracking system.

The CS will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to help perform calibrations and maintenance as needed, especially on more complex calibrations.

The CS will be responsible for tracking upcoming work and schedule calibration needs within Nelson Laboratories with outside contractors.

Essential Duties:

MMO functions

• Maintain, trouble-shoot, repair, and calibrate all laboratory equipment and measuring devices,

• working alongside the Maintenance Manager.

• Provide excellent customer service to laboratory personnel regarding equipment operations

• and specifications.

• Continuous improvement of MMO processes

• Evaluate and recommend new equipment to meet laboratory needs

• Provide support to outside sponsors/vendors equipment on startup and operation.

• Assist in the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.

• Assist in equipment and procedure validations.

• Assist in facility maintenance functions with the facility manager and project manager.

• Determine calibration and maintenance requirements and write necessary procedures.

• Create and maintain calibration and maintenance procedure files.

• Manage outside contractors performing calibration work in house or off site.

• Serve as responsible person for all calibration SOP's.

• Train and mentor less experienced technicians.

• Proficiency in Project Management skills and experience leading small projects.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).

• Know and follow company policies and procedures.

• Complete required training on time.

Competencies of this position:

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Computer experience, Microsoft office suites

• Impeccable filing, recordkeeping skills

• Filing, recordkeeping, writing, and updating of official documents

• Ability to write easy to follow written instructions

• Must be able to motivate and be self-motivated

• Ability to work and communicate with senior management and audit teams in a

• professional manner.
