Director of Ottava Software

Robotics & Digital Solutions, part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is recruiting a Director, Ottava Product Software , located Santa Clara, CA.

As the Director of Ottava Product Software , you will be responsible for directing and overseeing global software development and test activities for the Ottava Product Software team .

Through close collaboration with leadership, you will create and drive strategies for developing medical device software and lead the team to a successful commercial software release.

Key Responsibilities:


* Direct product software development and testing activities for a complex robotic system including planning, budgeting, execution , and delivery.


* In collaborat ion with leadership , plan, develop , and grow an effective organization .


* Drive and influence strategies and processes for planning, developing, releasing, testing, and maintaining medical device software .


* Work closely with Software Quality Engineering to define and improve software development processes in compliance with current FDA guidance and IEC 62304 .


* Work closely with Clinical Engineering and Product Management to define software product features and road maps .


* Establish team initiatives and strategies to achieve program goals and improve functional excellence in areas including device integration , real-time software, firmware, tooling, and software testing .


* Mentor senior managers, managers, and individual contributors .


* Maintain cross-functional alignment within OTTAVA R&D leadership and partner organizations (Quality, Regulatory, Clinical) .


* Provide strategic guidance, planning, and budget .

Education:


* A minimum of Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science , Computer Engineering or equivalent .

Required Experience and Skills :


* 10 years of experience developing software for complex systems .


* 5 years of experience managing software teams in a leadership role .


* Experience in integrating, developing , and managing teams from different backgrounds to deliver high-quality results on time .


* Ability to drive tactical execution decisions that align with business & corporate goals and strategy .


* Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and best practices.


* Strong understanding of software development and testing for medical devices , including required documentation and standards (e.g., IEC 62304) .


* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholder s .


* Proven ability to continuously improve delivery process, quality , and customer satisfactio n .


* Ability to motivate, inspire and influence others across the organization and enterprise to achieve result s.
