Your Job

OPD has an opening for an Expeditor that will office from our headquarters in Katy, TX.

The role is responsible for coordinating with suppliers, monitoring shipments, and resolving any logistical barriers or issues to support our project milestones and deadlines.

Our Team

The expediting capability is responsible for tracking and monitoring all shipments including pipe spool fabrication, valves, major equipment, piping, and structural steel.

The team's success is a result of open and clear communication, attention to detail, and being proactive with vendors and OPD project management.

What You Will Do

Procurement Execution:


* Monitor and track progress of all materials and equipment that are ordered for OPD construction projects.


* Update and maintain internal systems with notes and other documentation per OPD best practices to give transparency to project management and field construction on material/equipment status.


* Proactively identify shipments that are at risk of late delivery (per purchase order).

Partner with fabricator or supplier to escalate and expedite these shipments.


* Review open purchase order commitments and make the necessary adjustments to support customer delivery requirements.


* Lead and participate in weekly status update meetings with fabricators to foresee any long lead times, changes, hot orders, or remove any barriers for shipment.


* Responsible for responding to shared e-mail inbox messages timely.

Apply economic thinking to creatively explore options for alternate delivery dates and prices for project management.


* Confirm that final supplier/vendor invoices include any late changes in delivery fees or waived shipping charges.

Relationship Management:



* Maintain regular contact with vendors to ensure on-time delivery and remove barriers to order completion.


* Partner with fabrication shops with material discrepancies from OPD purchased materials.


* Partner with accounting in resolution of any supplier invoicing discrepancies.


* Build trusted relationships with buyers and project managers to assist as necessary.


* Partner with the warehouse and field personnel with material receipt issues.


* Build open and trusted relationships within the expediting team.

Proactively share knowledge and process gaps.


* Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Proficient with Excel - x-lookup, use data filters, conditional formatting


* Strong attention to detail


* Past experience using Office 365 with emphasis on Outlook shared mailboxes and MS Teams


* Past experience maintaining databases


* Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
