Data Engineer

Position Summary

Gibraltar and its subsidiaries are industry leading innovators and suppliers to a range of infrastructure, agriculture technology, solar and home service products.

As part of this team, you will be an integral resource to continue our business adoption and use of Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and other cloud environments for business intelligence and analytics.

The team is well positioned to advance the company on multiple fronts, and we need a great team player to help us build robust data systems.

This is a new position which expands our commitment and focuses on rapid delivery of key data elements to the business.

This role will report to the Senior Data Architect.

The Data Engineer will be a critical member of a team that is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation, development, and support of the company's Microsoft Fabric platform, data warehouse, data lake, Power BI reporting platform and various other data assets across the company.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)


* Work with stakeholders to understand business processes, document requirements and define data solutions.


* Write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from multiple data sources.


* Perform discovery and profiling of new or undocumented data sources.


* Develop, maintain and troubleshoot T-SQL and Python ETL code.


* Develop, maintain and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines/Data Flows


* Develop data transformations using provided business rules and logic.


* Meet deadlines for individual and team projects.


* Maintain technical documentation and source control related to project design and implementation.


* Support ongoing data integration efforts and troubleshooting across Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse, and Power BI.


* Respond quickly to resolve application issues and minimize downtime.


* Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent relevant experience


* Highly proficient with SQL coding; experience using advanced concepts (windowing functions, complex joins)


* 5 years' experience SQL Server


* Proficient in T-SQL development (stored procedures, functions, etc).


* Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or other ETL tool


* Power BI development experience a plus


* Familiarity with dimensional data modeling and Kimball data warehousing concepts


* Ability to understand query optimizer plans to identify processing bottlenecks and improve performance


* Experience in using Azure BI stack (Synapse, Fabric)


* Understanding of Agile application development methodologies and tools (Azure DevOps, Jira)
