Program Coordinator for the Center for Sustainability

Job Description

The Center for Sustainability at Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time Program Coordinator position.

This person will assist the Center Director in developing the Center as an anchor of cross-disciplinary research and student training in sustainability and resilience at Stevens.

They will also be responsible for managing the operations of the PSE&G Sustainability Programs for Environmental Justice. In addition, they will identify grant opportunities in the sustainability space, both foundation grants as well as community grants (in collaboration with community partners), draft and submit grant applications, and administer the grants when awarded. 

 

Responsibilities: 


* Work with the ACES Pre-College Summer Program at Stevens and develop/deliver a sustainability module for underserved students interested in pursuing a college degree/career in sustainability and resilience.   



* Recruit undergraduate students for participation in the PSE&G Summer Undergraduate Research Scholars program who will work on sustainability projects relevant to environmental justice communities.  



* Work with Stevens Development Office to identify and submit Foundation grants, and with public officials and community leaders (e.g., government offices/ agencies/ municipalities, non-profit organizations) in developing collaborative grants designed to improve community sustainability. 



* Work with the Stevens Sustainability Coordinator to identify opportunities for student engagement in campus sustainability initiatives.    



* Expand existing partnerships with industry and the community to identify opportunities for student participation in sustainability and resilience projects.  



* Assist faculty members associated with the Center in developing collaborative grant proposals in sustainability and resilience and administering the grants when awarded. 



* Assist in event planning activities that may occur on and off campus, such as information sessions and networking events. 

 

Required education and experience: 


* BA/BS/BBA degree in any discipline relevant to sustainability is required.

A master’s degree in sustainability is preferred.  



* 2+ years’ experience working in government/municipal agencies, for-profit or non-profit organizations in a role relevant to the sustainability field (energy/ environmental/ business/ social). 



* Grant-writing and grant funding experience is preferred. 



* Ability to mentor and work with university students.  



* Ability to initiate community engagement activities for the Center.  



* Must possess a strong work ethic, problem solving skills, high attention to detail, and analytical mindset. 



* Ability to work on a team and individually. 



* Strong written and oral communication skills. 



* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google Suite tools.
