Residential Community Homes - Lead Direct Support Professional

LEAD DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an hourly position responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a group home.

The Lead DSP  is responsible for assuring all day to day functions of the home are completed as intended. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:          High school diploma or equivalent required.                                       

Experience:         Two years of experience in Human Service field.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:     Must have a valid PA Driver’s License, must be eligible for insurance under the Barber National Institute.

Upon hire, must successfully complete Medications Administration Training, CPR and First Aid Certification.

Must obtain PA State Police Criminal History and PA Child Abuse History Clearances.

FBI clearance is required for individuals who do not meet PA residency requirements and/or if they will be working with minors under the age of 18.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

INDIVIDUAL RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Assures that each individual is treated with consideration, respect and full recognition of his/her dignity and individuality, including the right to privacy, care of personal needs and active treatment.


* Responsible to maintain a working knowledge of Individual Support Plan and its implementation. 


* Assists with development and implementation of daily activity schedules for each individual, encompassing programming, daily routines, recreation, and leisure time.


* Ensures the implementation of individualized service plans with specific measurable objectives for each individual in accordance with the recommendations of the Interdisciplinary Team.


* Assures that all activities related to the individual’s personal well-being and programmatic objectives are implemented to the fullest extent possible, i.e., programming, laundry, clothing needs, personal hygiene, physical health, and meaningful structured activities.


* Coordinates and ensures the implementation of community based activities for clients to attend.


* Completes weekly household shopping and orders supplies as necessary.


* Completes daily monitoring of medication administration, including regular counts, peer reviews.


* Ensures that all medical needs are reported to appropriate health service personnel in a timely manner and cooperates with the health service staff for the welfare of the individuals.


* Demonstrates knowledge regarding fire and emergency evacuation procedures and equipment; conducts and documents monthly fire drills; records individuals’ reaction time and other pertinent information.  Monitors and documents regular checks of fire system, extinguishers, and smoke detectors within the home.
