Supervising Development Specialist

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside County Office of Economic Development is seeking a Supervising Development Specialist located in Indio.

The incumbent of the position supervises the personnel of a work group or assumes responsibility for guidance of an assigned program activity within the Office of Economic Development.

In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and promoting the goals of the Office of Economic Development, Riverside County and will also conduct media outreach.

The Supervising Development Specialist is the supervisory level classification in the Development Specialist series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position.

Incumbents perform the full range of supervisory duties over a professional unit staff or over an assigned program/ project activity.

Incumbents are assigned to one of the following departments within the County of Riverside: Office of Economic Development, Department of Housing & Workforce Solutions, or Facilities Management Department.

The most competitive candidate will have working experience as a supervisor overseeing professional level staff engaged in technical and analytical work for community, economic, and/or workforce development projects.

Candidates with project management experience with a Public Agency or Non-Profit organization are highly encouraged to apply.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Provide full scope supervision over a professional unit of staff who perform technical and analytical program/project related work activities based on department assignment or plan; organize and direct workforce development, economic development, housing, or community development projects to ensure adequate program/project management functional support of large-scale projects and/or key program initiatives.

• Determine financial impact and monitor budget of projects; provide recommendations regarding projects to be funded and present justification to administration.

• Maintain working relationships with federal, state and local agencies, County departments, community groups, and private-sector businesses and developers.
