Code Enforcement Technician

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.

A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies.

The County of Riverside's Code Enforcement Department has an opportunity for a Code Enforcement Technician on the Special Enforcement team located in Riverside.

The incumbent will be assigned to handle investigations involving inoperative, wrecked, dismantled, or abandoned vehicles within an assigned area.

This position will respond to public and private property to identify and assess vehicles potentially in violation of County ordinance(s); to document conditions in violation; to educate the public as to ordinance requirements and compliance measures; and to take administrative or civil enforcement action to ensure compliance is achieved.

Additionally, the selected candidate will respond to and handle parking violation complaints; post-case-related notices; provide field support to Code Enforcement officers collecting evidence of violations on private and public property; provide clerical and office support to an office and/or assigned team.

The department seeks applicants with strong customer service experience and experience providing clerical support in a department performing land use, zoning, building, public safety, or related investigative or abatement activities.

Competitive candidates will possess experience in inspections, investigations, public contact, and vehicle identification.

Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and those who have a current P.O.S.T.

PC 832 certification are highly desired.

The Code Enforcement Technician is an entry-level classification and reports to a Supervising Code Enforcement Officer.

This classification is characterized by the primary responsibility for the routine investigative community development preservation support work, which does not involve frequent interaction with members of the public in the performance of field inspections.

Incumbents provide support and receive direction from Code Enforcement Officers and unlike Code Enforcement Officers, the incumbents do not issue citations or perform complex investigations.

Possible Schedules: 4/10, 9/80, 5/40 (M-F) and weekend or evening availability is required.
