Materials Manager

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Burgess-Norton Mfg Co, Powder Metal Division, is seeking an experienced Materials Manager who will be responsible for inventory management, internal and external production planning and scheduling, management of production control, shipping and receiving personnel, and capacity planning.

While maintaining optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time delivery


* Inventory management, accuracy, and optimization.


* Maintain a perpetual inventory count.

Control inventory levels and ensure availability of material during emergencies.


* Plant production scheduling.


* Management and development of production control, shipping, and receiving personnel.


* Perform continuous reviews of all orders and inventories through MRP reports to ensure on time shipments.


* Establishes procedures and supervises the annual physical inventory


* Generate various reports for plant schedules and plant management, advising of daily changes.


* Communicate shipment information to customers and the sales department.


* Management of external vendors.


* Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs


* Manage supplies and materials according to specifications and needs


* Coordinate and supervise receiving and warehousing procedures


* Oversee distribution of supplies in the organization


* Supervise, evaluate, and coach subordinates


* Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers


* Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.


* Assist in forecasting to plan future order


* Ensures that the company standard practices and work procedures are being followed to meet customer requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED  


* Requires a bachelor’s degree in business or related experience.


* Knowledge of Inventory Control and MRP systems; SAP MM required; advanced user required.


* Requires excellent computer skills, particularly MS Excel


* Customer service-oriented


* Inventory and Production Control certifications a plus


* Excellent organizational and leadership skills


* Able to provide astute materials management guidance, establish goals, formulate strategies, allocate resources, and execute plans that achieve/exceed the plant objectives including monthly shipping goals, inventory accuracy, and on time delivery.


* Experience in ERP implementation and use (SAP required MM, super user preferred).


* Experience at defining and implementing bar code data collection system.


* Strong understanding of financial data, budgets, and expenses.


* Able to communicate clearly and confidently to all levels of organization internally and externally.


* Must be hands-on and detail oriented and comfortable working in production environment.
