Registered Nurse II/III - MC/CHC - Per Diem - Nurse Support Teams - BERT - Day Shift

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside University Health System's, (RUHS), Medical Center is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse for the Nurse Support Team - BERT Division.

This is a per diem position.

A Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in providing specialized care for individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health crises.

It typically includes the following responsibilities:



* Assessment : Conducting thorough assessments of patients experiencing behavioral or mental health crises to determine their immediate needs and level of risk.


* Intervention : Implementing appropriate interventions to manage acute behavioral disturbances, such as de-escalation techniques, crisis counseling, and medication administration if necessary.


* Collaboration : Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other mental health professionals, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure continuity of care.


* Safety Management : Ensuring the safety of both patients and staff by maintaining a calm and controlled environment, implementing safety protocols, and monitoring for any signs of escalation.


* Documentation : Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.


* Education : Providing education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health issues, crisis management strategies, and available resources for ongoing support.


* Advocacy : Serving as an advocate for patients within the healthcare system, ensuring that their needs are addressed and that they receive appropriate care and support.


* Crisis Prevention : Participating in the development and implementation of programs and protocols aimed at preventing behavioral crises and promoting mental health wellness within the community.


* Training and Development : Participating in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills in crisis intervention, mental health assessment, and trauma-informed care.


* Emergency Response : Responding to emergency situations within the healthcare facility or community settings, providing immediate assistance and support as needed.

Overall, the role of a Behavioral Emergency Response Team RN requires a combination of clinical expertise, compassion, and strong communication skills to effectively manage behavioral crises and support individuals in distress.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:



* 3 years of Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting.


* Psychiatric and mental health experience preferred.

Required Licenses & Certifications


* Current and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
