Planner I

DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International's San Diego Planning Practice is seeking a Full Time Environmental Planner specializing in environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

This position involves research and authorship of environmental impact studies for a wide array of projects throughout the greater San Diego region.

The Environmental Planner will provide support to Project Managers throughout all aspects of environmental review.

The Environmental Planner may also provide support to the broader San Diego Planning team, providing meaningful assistance on a broad array of General Plan, Specific Plan, and Community Development projects throughout the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES


* As an Environmental Planner, this position will involve research and authorship of CEQA and NEPA documents, such as Initial Studies, EAs, MNDs, and EIRs.


* You're responsible for participating in group meetings, always taking careful notes, sharing thoughtful insights, asking lots of questions, and discovering what components of the profession spark your motivation to learn more.


* You will work both within team and independent settings from day to day, meet and coordinate with other offices and technical specialists, and be an active participant in the Michael Baker Wolfpack - whether that be joining one of our many volunteer committees, representing us at AEP or APA, or simply making connections among our hundreds of amazing planning and engineering professionals throughout southern California and beyond!

QUALIFICATIONS


* Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental systems, environmental sciences, geography, or a related field and 1-3 years of experience, including relevant internships.

CEQA coursework, seminars, and certificates preferred.


* To be successful, you'll need to be a skilled communicator, have excellent writing ability, and know how to manage your time.


* A desire to produce professional quality work products to the Michael Baker standard is essential.

You'll need a demonstrated personal commitment to accuracy and quality.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $65,000-85,000.

This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
