Engineer II, Embedded Software Design

Responsibilities:


* Work in an Agile environment and develop firmware to enhance and extend the NetBotz product line


* Assists in formulating customer requirements and creates/updates engineering documents


* Contribute to the design and architecture of product


* Contributes to continuous improvement of products and processes.


* Works with Technical Support on customer issues.


* Participates in code inspections.


* Shows understanding and appreciation of processes and issues relevant to the job.


* Seeks out new technologies to apply to current team challenges.


* Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support project or departmental objectives.

Required Skills and Experience:


* A B.Sc or B.Eng degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent)


* 3+ years of experience with low-level embedded C programming on microcontrollers, including direct hardware interaction, peripheral drivers, and development in RTOS or bare-metal environments.


* Experience with Git for source-code management.


* Proven ability to work with embedded hardware platforms and debuggers.


* Experience with TCP/IP and protocols such as SNMP, Modbus or BACnet.


* Eagerness to learn and work in Secure Development Lifecycle practices.


* Eagerness to learn and take ownership of hands-on projects.


* Proven track record of delivering quality solutions and/or products.


* Good team building and communication skills.


* Proven to be adaptable and able to work on a variety of activities simultaneously.


* Eagerness to learn about business and technology trends.


* Knowledge of analysis techniques - can break down complex tasks easily.


* Demonstrated creativity in their solutions and ability to innovate in their work.


* Take calculated risks daily.

Desired Additional Skills and Experience:


* Experience with web services and API design.


* Working with hardware debuggers


* Experience in MicroC/OS-II orμC/OS-II RTOS


* Experience with JavaScript and Web-UI development in an embedded environment


* Creating software design using UML or other software design practices.


* Familiarity with I2C, UART, SPI, or CAN


* Familiarity with STM micro controller or ARM microprocessor
