General Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for insuring SECO Energy's compliance with State and Federal Environmental regulations and laws concerning proper storage, disposal and documentation of oil filled equipment.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the repair, testing, and disposal of all line and substation electrical equipment; responds to emergencies for the proper cleanup, storage and disposal of all oil spills for leaking or damaged oil filled electrical equipment.

Completion of periodic environmental audits/inspections of all SECO Energy's permanent and temporary oil-filled equipment storage locations; Proper testing, storage, labeling, documenting and disposal of all PCB contaminated equipment.

This position is also responsible for performing high and low voltage tests (utilizing specialty equipment) on transmission, distribution and substation equipment to determine if it can safely and efficiently be returned to service.

Requirements

Education


* Minimum: Two (2) year associate degree in environmental science or related field.


* Minimum: Four (4) years' experience in environmental compliance with an electric utility or related industry may be considered in lieu of associate degree.

Experience



* Minimum: One (1) year progressive experience in environmental compliance.


* Preferred: Experience within an electric utility or related industry.

Other Requirements


* Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines and telephone.


* Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.


* A valid Florida driver's license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.


* Frequent business travel to all areas of service territory required.


* Normal work hours will be eight (8) hours Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.


* Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

To ensure timely response to Call outs, must live within 40-mile radius from the assigned reporting location.
