Call for Applications: U.S. Institute of Peace Roster of 
Experts on Justice, Accountability for Mass Atrocities, and 
    Mass Atrocity Prevention 

The Governance, Justice and Security team at the U.S. Institute of Peace is 
seeking qualified candidates with a range of skills and expertise on justice, 
accountability, and atrocity prevention. Apply HERE. 

Introduction 

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is a national, nonpartisan, independent 
institute, founded by Congress and dedicated to the proposition that a world without 
violent conflict is possible, practical, and essential for U.S. and global security. In 
conflict zones abroad, the Institute works with local partners to prevent, mitigate, and

Purpose of the Call for Experts 

USIP’s Governance, Justice, and Security team is developing a Roster of Experts on 
justice, accountability for mass atrocities, and mass atrocity prevention to support the 
Institute’s programmatic efforts in these core thematic areas. 

Applicants should be available to advise, inform, and support USIP’s work, either on the 
ground or remotely. The scope of work and duration will depend on the exact country 
and issue context. Individuals deployed will be compensated according to their 
expertise and scope of work.

*  Justice sector performance assessment; 


* Justice sector strategies to improve service delivery, access to justice institutions, and/or public confidence in the justice sector; 


* Reform of justice sector institutions, particularly in fragile or post- 

conflict states; 


*   Access to justice for vulnerable and/or conflict-affected populations; 


*  Accountability for Mass Atrocities 


*  Transitional justice mechanisms, including both judicial and non- 

judicial mechanisms; 


*  Documentation of potential abuses; 


*  Atrocity crimes investigations; 


* Prosecution and adjudication of atrocity crimes at the international,
