Mechanical/Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Full Time

Intertek is looking for a Mechanical/Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our US Construction team working for a client based in Port Arthur, TX.

The Mechanical/Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will ensure that the Project Quality Plan in conjunction with Project Execution Plan is developed and implemented.

This role will promote quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of company business.

What you'll do:


* Inspection personnel should be familiar with Destructive Testing fundamentals, techniques, and applicability including groove welds, fillet welds, stud welds, and weld ability testing.


* Monitor the execution of welding work in progress to ensure that it complies with the applicable codes, standards, and specific job requirements.


* Verify equipment placement is correct and aligned.


* Perform such dimensional checks as may be necessary to verify as-built dimensions.


* Evaluate completed weldments for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and job requirements.


* Perform inspections to applicable procedures and processes.


* Conduct audits and surveillance of suppliers and organizations providing materials or services to the project.


* Ensure the work performed and associated records are maintained and conform to the requirements of the applicable standards or other contract documents.

Physical Requirements for this role:


* Must be able to walk long distances


* Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl


* Must be able to stand for extended durations


* Must be able to reach in all directions


* Must have good visual acuity with regards to color, depth perception and field vision


* Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures


* Must be alert and able to determine job related hazards and recognize when hazards change


* Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

What it takes to be successful in this role:


* 5 years of Mechanical/CWI Inspector experience


* Received High School Diploma/GED or higher education


* Fluent in English (i.e.

reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)


* Proficient in Microsoft Office


* Familiarity with email and internet communication systems


* Ability to work well with others, multi-task, and be detailed oriented
