Position Overview
The Mechanic is responsible for performing inspections, completing preventative maintenance, and diagnosing and repairing vehicle deficiencies on trucks, on-highway end dump trucks, tractors and trailers and heavy construction equipment.
All duties must be performed in compliance with company policies and established workplace safety standards.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
* Operates and inspect machines and equipment to diagnose defects.
* Troubleshoot problems, making economical and durable repairs.
* Dismantling and reassembling equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
* Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
* Replace defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, electric motors, drums, seals, hydraulic pumps, valves, pistons, rods, gears, crankshafts, cylinder blocks, etc.
* Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency (must be able to operate all equipment).
* Welds broken parts and structural members.
* Performs record keeping of time and parts used on the appropriate forms.
* Plans work procedures and/or possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts and rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
* Performs general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
* Assists other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
* Other duties as assigned.

After the truck is loaded, climb up the ladder to catwalk and rinse down truck;

Once on the job, get out of the cab and safely climb down 3 steps to the ground;
4.
Pick up and attach a chute or chutes that weighs approximately 50 pounds;
5.
Operate the controls to deliver the concrete.
This can be done from the ground using external controls or by climbing back up 3 steps and getting back into the cab of the mixer truck;
6.
Once the concrete is delivered, the Driver must get out of the truck, climb up the ladder to the catwalk and thoroughly rinse down hopper, fins in barrel, drop hopper, top chute, etc.;

The Driver then climbs off of the truck and continues washing the remainder of the shuts and truck.
The driver then disconnects the chutes and returns them to the rack.

Roles & Responsibilities
(Essential Duties and Functions)
* Inspect work area daily and fill out Work Area inspection sheet daily.
* Maintain a safe and clean work area and perform housekeeping as deemed by foreman.
* Accurately account for time spent working on equipment and time entry must be submitted in Infield system.
* Must efficiently fuel equipment.
* Must be able to operate fuel truck safely.
* Accurately record equipment number, fuel used and meter readings of equipment.
* Manage work orders in CMMS system.
* Diagnose problems, make repairs, and perform services on equipment in a safe and timely manner.
* Properly complete requests for parts and work order forms.
* Repair and maintain all mobile and ground engaging equipment in a safe and timely manner.
* Demonstrate ability to learn at training classes given.
* May be called upon at discretion of foreman to assist other departments if necessary.
* Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to insure a safe operating environment is always maintained.
Report any safety concerns to the foreman immediately.

* Regular and timely attendance is required.
