What we do:
Electricians at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York are involved with the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment including emergency power systems (EPS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and perform electrical work within the Bank`s owned and leased facilities.
They work in close coordination with other experienced individuals like facilities engineers, carpenters, painters, amongst others towards accomplishing the goals of the department; and are required to work in a comprehensive; 24- hour work schedule within the Bank's owned and leased facilities in NY and NJ.
You will report to the Chief Electrician.
Work schedule as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – shift work 11pm to 7am with mandatory overtime and holidays, as needed to maintain 7x24 coverage requirements.
Your role as an Electrician:
* You will work with tools on the installation, alteration, and repair of wiring and appliances for light, heat, and power.
* Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to determine, with the Supervising Electrician, the approach to assignments.
* Survey job sites for estimates of materials necessary to complete assignments.
* Install electrical meter devices, in hazardous areas of high voltage.
* Maintain and repair clocks, conveyors, lighting fixtures, kitchen equipment, trucking gates, power boxes, electrical switch gear.
* Help with the guidance and inspection of installations performed by outside electrical contractors.
* Perform electrical repair maintenance work on power plant equipment, including air conditioning, refrigeration heating, and ventilation systems, including:
* Electrical equipment on the main power plant switchboards and auxiliary switchboards.
* Overhaul and undercut mica insulation on generators, balancers and electric motors, including AC and DC.
* Troubleshoot Variable Speed Drives, motor control circuits, BAS & BMS control devices including VAV boxes, control transformers.

This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures involved in manufacturing processes.
Their duties include researching automation techniques to maximize the efficiency of production lines and planning factory layouts that optimize how products are made across entire facilities or warehouses, with multiple departments making up one system simultaneously.

SUMMARY:
The person in this position inspects, services, and maintains diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations, diagnoses diesel-engine malfunctions, and makes indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments, and sometimes machine tools.
He or she may operate mechanical equipment to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts and may be required to qualify as a shop-service locomotive engineer in accordance with FRA standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety and operations and with Federal Railroad Administration standards
* Perform daily inspections, servicing, and maintenance on diesel-electric locomotives, including but not limited to performing scheduled and preventative maintenance as determined by company policy; fueling, checking, and changing oil and liquid levels; changing filters for engine air, air compressor, fuel, and lube oil; replacing and maintaining engine components, traction motors, generators, air compressors, wheels, and truck components; and washing and cleaning locomotives as necessary
* Be responsible for following FRA regulations pertaining to locomotive maintenance and inspection as well as railroad environmental requirements
* Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air equipment, trucks, or other components; repair or replace as necessary
* Perform locomotive car-body repairs as necessary, including performing metal fabrication and welding
* Operate forklifts, light cranes, power tools, and hydraulic tools while working outside in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, and/or at elevated heights
* Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* Knowledge of FRA regulations pertaining to locomotive maintenance and inspection
* Knowledge of railroad environmental requirements
* Two years of relevant work experience as a heavy mechanic
* Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
* High school diploma or GED; four-year journeyman locomotive machinist/mechanic a plus; Locomotive Service Engineer certification a plus; welding certification a plus
* At least eighteen years of age
* Valid driver’s license
