Heluna Health invites applications for the position of Research Associate in the Center on Substance Use and Health (CSUH) of Population Health Division of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Research Associate will be responsible for a wide variety of duties and projects related to behavioral and pharmacologic studies in the fields of HIV prevention and substance use.
This is a temporary, in person, grant-funded, full-time, benefitted position.
Employment is provided by Heluna Health.
Position has non-standard work hours (may require work during evening hours).
Pay Range: $31.25-$34.45 per hour
The research associate will primarily work on one or both of the following studies:
1.
Naltrexone for Overdose Prevention – A randomized controlled trial of naltrexone as an overdose prevention strategy for people who use stimulants and are at risk or living with HIV.
Participants will be randomized to receive monthly injections of long-acting injectable naltrexone (an opioid antagonist) or usual care over six months of follow-up.
2.
Ketamine-assisted Therapy for Methamphetamine Use Disorder – A pilot trial of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for methamphetamine use disorder and HIV risk reduction.
Participants will receive ketamine and manualized psychotherapy over 5 weeks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Support the investigators of this close-knit research team in the conduct of research protocols within the guidelines of Good Clinical Practice.
* Responsible for screening potential participants over the phone or in-office, obtaining informed consent.
* Proactively manage participant schedules and retain participants through phone calls, emails/texts, and in-person follow-ups over the course of the study.
* Conduct study visits with participants following the procedures of the study protocol.
* Under the guidance of the study clinicians, conduct laboratory activities, which may include urine drug testing, rapid HIV and HCV testing, phlebotomy, blood processing, and sending blood and urine samples for laboratory tests.
* May provide HIV/STI risk reduction counseling, overdose prevention, or medication management counseling using a manualized cognitive behavioral model and the principles of harm reduction.
* Other administrative tasks including accurately completing case report forms, setting participants up with surveys, performing quality assurance checks of study documents, entering study data into REDCap or Excel databases, etc.
* Assist with other unit studies as needed, including conducting in-depth interviews and surveys.
* Support the development of study operations protocols (SOPs) in close collaboration with Program Manager.
* Other duties as assigned, including coverage for other staff and discrete projects related to ongoing studies within CSUH.

Heluna Health invites applications for a full time (40 hour/week), benefitted, as-needed Health Worker/Phlebotomist position that is phlebotomy licensed in CA, to work in the San Francisco County Jails.
This program operates under Jail Health Services, an ambulatory care site within the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
The Health Worker/Phlebotomist position will be responsible for the following functions to incarcerated patients who are housed in the San Francisco County Jails: 1) conducting testing for sexually transmitted infections, using both point-of-care (rapid) and conventional (venous) lab-based testing services, including HIV, Hepatitis C, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia infections; 2) disclosing results and providing counseling to the patients for tests completed by Health Worker/Phlebotomist; 3) ensuring appropriate referrals for biomedical HIV and STI prevention, treatment of chronic Hepatitis C infection and treatment of HIV infection.
This position requires relaying and collecting critical, sensitive information to patients typically from vulnerable backgrounds with low health literacy and high levels of institutional mistrust. Additionally, the job duties are primarily completed within the living areas within the county jail. Applicants must have a high degree of comfort and motivation to work with these patient populations within a high stress environment. While the majority of work functions are performed individually, the position operates within a larger, multidisciplinary group of medical providers and case managers, necessitating excellent communication skills and a high degree of comfort working across different roles, skills and job functions.

General Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.
Essential Duties
• Use PCC to ensure correct resident when assisting with ALDS, meals, etc.
• Report all changes in the resident's condition to the Health and Wellness Director as soon as practical.
• Record all entries on notes, SPAs, and incident reports, etc., in an informative, descriptive manner.
• Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur to the Executive Director and Health and Wellness Director.
• Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Executive Director.
• Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access community's information system.
• Perform only those care tasks that you have been trained to do.
• Ensure that the resident's room is ready for the resident (i.e., bed made).
• Greet residents and escort them to their room.
• Introduce residents to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate.
• Make residents comfortable.
• Inventory and mark the residents personal possessions as instructed.
• Store resident's clothing.
