Position Summary: Provides Leadership in maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool(s), on the pool deck(s) and in surrounding areas.
During assigned shift, creates a safe and positive atmosphere promoting member safety and engagement, youth development and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
While on duty, this position is responsible for ensuring lifeguards are meeting essential job functions.
Essential Functions: 1.
Knows and understands all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately and appropriately, in accordance with YMCA standards, policies and procedures.
2.
Knows, understands, and consistently enforces safety rules, swim testing procedures, policies and guidelines for the pool(s) and aquatics area(s).
3.
Performs maintenance of the pool(s) and pool area(s) to assure high standards of safety and cleanliness; including vacuuming, cleaning pool deck, pool tiles and trash-pick-up.
4.
Performs pool chemical testing and maintains accurate records, as required by YMCA standards, policies and procedures and/or the state health department code.
5.
Performs daily equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available, as needed, while on duty.
6.
Checks for pool hazards when arriving and continues to monitor risks to prevent accidents before they occur.
7.

* Learn equipment disassembly while working with senior mechanics
* Learn parts identification and parts handling
+ Learn how to use parts manual
* Learn engine/gear applications and systems (air, fuel, water and oil)
+ Learn to use Maintenance Manuals
+ Learn torque values and weights
+ Learn application of parts while assisting senior mechanics with reassembly
* Learn to use the “I expense” system for job expenses
* Follow service job protocol
* Other duties as assigned
Safety
* Develop relationships with coworkers to better understand the processes and culture that affect safety.
* Influence safety by evaluating safety performance, participating in safety meetings, targeting areas needing improvement and developing initiatives to impact the areas.
* Report safety observations, including near misses.
* Thoroughly knowledgeable of Safe Work Policy.
Qualifications
* Maintain a positive attitude and work to wards achieving a Safety Goal of Zero Incidents
* Maintain dependability and punctuality
* Work on Weekends and Holidays
* Work under the direction of Senior Mechanics
* Work out of town for extended periods
* Maintain Good Study and Learning Habits
* Maintain Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills
