Position Overview
The screed operator is a highly skilled position involving the control and operation of the asphalt paving machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
* Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc.).
* Maintain depth, grade and yield of asphalt.
* Operate free floating screed to level hot mix to the right thickness of evenness.
* Ability to see differences in grade.
* Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of machine spreads and levels asphalt on subgrade of highway and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc
* Collaborating with the paving crew for even asphalt distribution
* Adjusting the screed height and angle to ensure proper distribution
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

* Current driver's license and reliable source of transportation.
* Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours, at various locations.
Education/Experience
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Previous experience in the construction and paving industry preferred.
