Maximus is seeking a Sr.

Assembler Language Computer (ALC) Programmer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) IO&A project.

The Sr.

ALC Programmer will provide program analysis, design and development support, maintain source code and modify and/or upgrade code, and conduct testing and debugging, as necessary.

This role is remote, and candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI is a plus).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to technical architecture, system design, and strategic development planning.
- Develop complex, high-impact software components and ensure architectural alignment across teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-wide, multi-component issues using deep analysis and innovative solutioning.
- Champion (using your preferred verb alternatives) improvements in development methodologies, tools, standards, and processes.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, guidance, and oversight to development teams; review work of others and ensure quality delivery.
- Collaborate across functions (QA, DevOps, Product, Security) to define and execute integrated technical strategies.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Create, update, test, and maintain IBM ALC programs.

- Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure that they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.

- Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.

- Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.

- Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
