Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient

The purpose of this position is to provide neurologic care and education to patients and families in the hospital setting.

Works closely with MCN physicians and hospital staff to ensure comprehensive care is provided.

M-F 9 am- 5 pm occasional Saturdays- with one day off during the week.

Performs inpatient clinical activities.

Performs and/or updates thorough histories (includes phone interviews with informants, if needed).Performs and/or updates thorough physical exam.Triages patient-related phone calls.Presents patient to neurologist in concise, complete, and thorough manner.Documents information in electronic health record in an organized and timely manner.

Uses standard format emphasizing completeness, thoroughness and reflected formulation of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, patient education and follow-up.Orders and interprets diagnostic testing (e.g., labs, EEGs, etc.).

Reviews test results and treatment plan with patients and family.May assist with and/or perform minor procedures.

Provides patient and family education.

Organizes relevant educational materials from available sources and generates materials for patients/families.Presents and reviews materials/information with patients in a timely, concerned, thorough, understandable and empathetic manner.Follows up with patients and their families to assure understanding and retention of materials.

Provides supplementary materials, as necessary.Facilitates family conferences.
