What You'll Do As the Veterinary Assisting Department Head, you'll oversee the daily operations and continuous improvement of the program while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and student success.

Leadership & Program Management Lead the daily operations of the Veterinary Assisting department.Coordinate class schedules, faculty assignments, staffing needs, and departmental resources.Conduct regular department meetings and maintain appropriate records.Recruit, mentor, support, and evaluate faculty and staff.Coordinate teaching assignments and provide coverage during employee absences.Develop departmental goals and monitor progress toward student and program outcomes.Ensure compliance with college policies, accreditation standards, publication requirements, and health and safety regulations.

Teaching & Student Success Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with approved course outlines.Supervise students in classrooms, laboratories, and clinical learning environments while maintaining safe animal handling practices.Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes professionalism, compassion, teamwork, and critical thinking.Monitor student attendance, academic progress, technical competencies, and workplace readiness.Identify students needing additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions.Support graduates by sharing employment opportunities and assisting with career placement efforts.Maintain accurate student records and report completion, placement, and other required outcomes in a timely manner.
