Paramedic (Full-time)

Job Purpose and Objectives: Responsible for responding to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate high-level care to the critically ill and injured and transporting the patient to a medical facility.

This position is distinguishable from that of an EMT in that the position requires further certification and can perform specialized medical treatment and administer drugs.

Essential Functions: Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processes employee concerns and problems, directs work, and counsels Responds to ambulance calls and assists in providing emergency medical treatment Drives, inventories, replaces stock and maintains upkeep of ambulance Transports patients to proper facilities and prepares reports on patient's conditions Responds to rescue scenes and assists in extrication of trapped or injured persons Assists and participates in/with department trainings Performs daily maintenance duties, including cleaning all areas of the EMS Stations Performs station and equipment maintenance, if able and knowledgeable of what needs fixed Supervises subordinate personnel in the absence of Paramedic/Shift Supervisor and/or Paramedic/Shift Lieutenant Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed Protects and maintains any confidential information, whether oral, written, or electronic
