Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator position will: Operate a forklift to perform a wide variety of duties associated with loading and unloading steel.

Additionally, the position requires the candidate to pass forklift training.

Also required to perform other tasks, as assigned by his or her supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtain supplies, position work and follow verbal or written instructionsPerform a wide variety of duties associated with loading and unloading steelOperate forkliftMove steel around in storage area and pull it for production requirementsMaintain necessary records including daily forklift inspectionComplete tasks as directed with minimum supervisionEnsure work is done safely and meets quality standardsProvide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task Reports problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to supervisorPerform other duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this positionKeep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilitiesDesire to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethicFollow all company rules and policies KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Adequate communication skills; verbal and writtenAbility to read and understand written instructionsMust have knowledge of the various types of materials PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physically able to do bending, twisting, gripping, grasping, stooping and liftingAbility to lift up to 75 lbs.Physically able to stand for up to 8 hoursRequires good hand-eye coordinationPhysically able to operate forklift.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience/combined educationForklift drivers license.
