Referral Clerk - Gatesville Clinic

The Clinic Referral Clerk is responsible for coordinating patient referrals to specialists, diagnostic services, and other healthcare providers.

This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, and referral offices to ensure timely scheduling and continuity of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Process incoming and outgoing patient referrals accurately and efficiently.Coordinate appointments with specialists, diagnostic facilities, and ancillary services.Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and pre-certifications as required.Communicate referral information, appointment details, and instructions to patients.Maintain accurate referral records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.Track referral status and follow up to ensure completion of referrals and receipt of consultation reports.Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and outside healthcare organizations to facilitate patient care.Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and provider documentation.Assist with medical records requests related to referrals when necessary.Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries regarding referral status and scheduling.Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
