Job Summary
Provide support to the Public Affairs team in the areas of communications, internal relations, external relations, and government relations.
This role offers hands-on experience across a variety of public affairs functions while helping support CITGO's engagement with employees, the community, media, and government stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
* Full-time student enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mass Communications or Marketing with at least 30 hours completed prior to start of co-op (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior)
* Overall GPA of 3.0 (Must provide proof of current GPA at time of hire to verify eligibility requirements are met)
* Basic working knowledge Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
* Strong interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
* Valid drivers' license
Job Duties
The duties of the Public Affairs Intern will include a sampling of the four core components essential for day-to-day functions of the Public Affairs department:
* Communications - assisting with writing for the employee newsletter and news releases while using AP style, photography, assisting with creative concepts, and media schedule planning
* Internal Relations - assisting with the coordination of internal events
* External Relations - assisting with the coordination of external events, participating in Partners in Education and TeamCITGO volunteer activities
* Government Relations - assisting with events with our local legislative delegation and elected official
For the duration of this internship, the Intern will foster many professional relationships within the community including local media representatives and elected officials.

Ability to obtain a TWIC card: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
