The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front-end loader and other heavy equipment in support of heavy highway, utility, site development, and street construction projects.
This position plays a critical role in loading, transporting, stockpiling, and moving materials while supporting construction crews in meeting project schedules and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Operate a front-end loader to move, load, stockpile, and transport materials such as aggregate, soil, sand, asphalt, concrete, and construction debris.
* Perform daily equipment inspections and complete required safety and maintenance checklists.
* Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues promptly.
* Load trucks safely and efficiently while maintaining proper material quantities.
* Maintain stockpiles and work areas in an organized and safe condition.
* Assist with excavation, grading, backfilling, and site preparation activities.
* Operate additional heavy equipment as needed, including:
+ Backhoe
+ Excavator
+ Skid Steer
+ Roller/Compactor
* Follow grade stakes, site plans, and supervisor instructions.
* Work closely with laborers, pipe crews, and truck drivers to support project operations.
* Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements.
* Perform general labor duties as needed when equipment operation is not required.
Qualifications
Required
* Minimum 2 years of experience operating a front-end loader in a construction environment.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
* Knowledge of heavy civil, utility, roadway, or site development construction.
* Ability to conduct equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
* Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Preferred
* Experience operating backhoes, excavators, rollers, or other construction equipment.
* Experience working around underground utilities and excavation operations.
* OSHA 10 certification.
* CDL license.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to sit, climb, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
* Ability to enter and exit equipment multiple times throughout the day.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
