Machine Operator

Position Summary: Responsible for operating fabrication machinery to process, modify, and produce metal components according to specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.

Ensures safe equipment operation, maintains production efficiency, and supports a team environment focused on quality and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Download, load, and execute machine programs as required to produce parts according to specifications.

Set up, operate, and adjust fabrication equipment, including tooling and fixtures, to meet production requirements.

Monitor material flow and machine operation to ensure efficient and accurate processing.

Inspect finished components to verify dimensions, quality, and compliance with prints and specifications.

Select and perform appropriate testing procedures using required measuring devices and inspection tools.

Perform routine machine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting to support equipment performance.

Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Coordinate workflow and communicate with upstream and downstream operations to support production needs.

Complete production documentation, including job tracking, production logs, completed quantities, scrap reporting, and inventory locations within the ERP system.

Transport parts and materials throughout the facility as required.

Support continuous improvement efforts and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.

Ability to safely operate, set up, troubleshoot, and perform basic maintenance on fabrication equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use common hand tools, measuring equipment, and inspection devices to measure parts within required tolerances.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, work instructions, and production documents.

Basic math skills with the ability to perform calculations using a calculator or computer.

Ability to identify and resolve practical problems while working within established manufacturing and quality standards.

Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and respond to questions from supervisors and others.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality regarding company designs, manufacturing processes, tooling, and other proprietary information.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification in a related field preferred.

Minimum of two years of machine operation experience required, with experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.

Physical Demands: Regularly communicate and exchange accurate information with co-workers, supervisors, and team members.
