FTZ & Customs Compliance Specialist: Chesapeake
Starting Salary Range is $68,600- $85,800.
Final starting salary based on experience.

Purpose and Scope of Job: Primarily responsible for customs compliance and performance audit of international and domestic transportation transactions to facilitate trade, import and export of products within a Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned): Prepare/file timely reports with Customs, FTZ Board, Grantee and SMA management.Perform freight, FTZ and customs audits to meet internal and external compliance requirements.Provide export classifications and determine whether export licenses are required for transporting goods.Apply for export licenses when required.Maintain customs procedure manuals, records of customs audits, freight rates, and shipments.Determine reasons for delays and potential solutions eliminating future delays.Provide customs and supply chain performance reporting, compliance documentation and rates.Develop processes and procedures to improve supply chain compliance & FTZ performance.Create compliance support documentation for Distribution Center operations.Manage document retention file for all Customs entries.Partner with Customs Broker(s) on exception management, corrective action, and final resolution.Interfaces with internal customers, external vendors and service providers as well as government agencies.Code, audit, and approve freight invoices for accuracy per agreements for timely payment by accounting.Support smooth flow of daily operations for all inbound shipments to the Distribution Center.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.Five (5) years of experience with import/export clearance, compliance, and auditing in an FTZ setting.Comprehensive knowledge of FTZ principles, U.S.
Export Administration Regulations; U.S.
Customs Regulations, import/export documentation and recordkeeping; HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classification rules.Familiar with compliance software applications.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Current US Customs Broker License or currently working on obtaining a US Customs Brokers LicenseAny additional essential skills and/or knowledge as shown in the HRIS Career & Education > Skills section for incumbents holding this job title.
