Building Maintenance Tech I

About the Role Join our Public Works team! The City of Kentwood is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician I to help maintain and repair City-owned buildings and facilities.

In this role, you'll perform a variety of hands-on maintenance tasks across multiple trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.

What You'll Do Maintain City buildings, including roofs, ceilings, floors, drywall, windows, doors, and lighting Perform painting, repairs, and general facility upkeep Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems Complete plumbing and electrical maintenance and repairs Maintain office furniture, fixtures, and equipment Perform maintenance on park facilities such as restrooms, pavilions, and athletic equipment Assist with pest control and graffiti removal Support custodial operations and contractor oversight Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and small inventory of supplies Prepare reports and maintain records of work performed Provide basic assistance and information to the public Collaborate with team members and assist other Public Works divisions as needed Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Two (2) years of skilled trades experience in installation, maintenance, or repair work (or equivalent combination of training and experience) Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings, and blueprints Michigan CDL Class A with Tanker ("N") endorsement (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire) Please view the full job description and requirements for more details.
