Behavior and Health Coordinator - Shelter

As a Behavior & Health Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring animals entering and residing at HSBV receive compassionate, individualized care that supports successful outcomes through adoption, foster care, transfer, behavior support, medical treatment, reunification, and other pathways.
Working closely with shelter, veterinary, behavior, foster, and volunteer teams, you'll help animals move successfully through their shelter journey.
How You'll Make a Difference Evaluate, Care for & Advocate for Animals Evaluate animals entering the shelter and help determine the most appropriate pathway for care, foster placement, adoption, transfer, medical treatment, or other outcomes.
Monitor the shelter population and identify potential health, behavior, capacity, or operational concerns that may impact animal welfare.
Coordinate animal housing based on medical, behavioral, and operational needs.
Make informed decisions that support positive outcomes while maintaining the integrity of HSBV's animal welfare programs.
Support Animal Health & Wellbeing Coordinate and administer shelter animal vaccinations in accordance with established protocols.
Partner with veterinary staff to identify and address animals requiring medical care or treatment.
Maintain accurate medical records, reports, and shelter documentation.
Support disease prevention efforts through sanitation, monitoring, and animal health best practices.
Advance Behavior, Foster & Rehabilitation Programs Identify animals who may benefit from behavior support, enrichment, foster placement, transfer, or rehabilitation programs.
Collaborate with behavior, training, and shelter teams to implement individualized support plans.
Assist with foster and transfer programs, including scheduling, intake support, and record management.
Help create opportunities that improve animal welfare and reduce stress during an animal's shelter stay.
Support People, Partnerships & Programs Assist clients relinquishing animals and gather information to support evaluations and care planning.
Educate community members about HSBV programs, services, and animal welfare resources.
Work cooperatively with rescue partners, animal welfare agencies, fosters, and community organizations.
Promote HSBV's mission, services, programs, and events while providing exceptional customer service.
