This rewarding role serves as a vital first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a positive experience while supporting accurate registration, insurance verification, and revenue cycle processes.

Position Summary

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for onsite patient registration, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and point-of-service collections.

With occasional guidance, this role also helps resolve registration, billing, insurance, and payment-related inquiries while delivering outstanding customer service to patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Registration & Insurance Verification


* Obtain, verify, and update patient demographic information.


* Complete patient check-in and check-out processes accurately and efficiently.


* Distribute clinic-specific forms and required documentation.


* Verify guardianship information and obtain insurance cards.


* Verify insurance coverage and eligibility.


* Secure authorization and referral information as needed for each encounter.


* Create and maintain patient charts within the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Financial Responsibilities


* Collect copays, prepayments, and outstanding patient balances.


* Assist with registration, billing, insurance, and payment inquiries.


* Support revenue cycle activities while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Scheduling & Documentation


* Schedule patient appointments according to departmental policies and procedures.


* Ensure required annual forms are complete, accurate, current, and maintained in accordance with organizational policies.

Administrative Support


* Sort and distribute mail, medical records, and other correspondence.


* Receive delivered equipment and documents.


* Maintain a clean, organized, and professional lobby and work area.
