Job Summary:

A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) is a physical therapist participating in a postgraduate training program and is expected to complete the program within twelve months.

Requirements include clinical hours treating patients, participating in mentoring sessions, didactic education, and other various educational opportunities.

The PTR also has the same general duties and responsibilities as other physical therapists.

Responsibilities include providing direct care to patients with varied diagnoses and supervising rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students.

Caseloads may consist of patient care across the lifespan in varied practice settings.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Patient Treatment - Implements treatment plan utilizing current theory and practice; works towards established goals; modifies goals and treatment plan as necessary and indicated.

Documents treatment plan according to department policy and bills for services.

Coordinates appropriate follow up post-discharge from care.

Patient Assessment - Performs functions related to patient evaluation/re-evaluation, goal setting, and discharge planning according to department policy and procedures.
