Tool & Die Apprentice

The Tool & Die Apprentice at General Stamping & Metalworks is charged with learning and applying the different skill sets needed to support the operations of the Tool Room.

This includes mastering the Department of Labor education requirements associated with this role as well as learning how to safely machine, maintain, repair and build high quality production dies and weld fixtures.

This job description is intended to be an overview of the primary responsibilities for this position.

All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary.

Special projects and activities may also be created where employees' talents can best be utilized.

In addition, General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to an ever changing market.

It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.

Organizational Relationships and Authority The Tool & Die Apprentice reports directly to the Machining/Tool Room Supervisor.

There are no direct reports to this position.

Key Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Tool & Die Apprentice is to learn and/or complete the following: · Using surface grinders, drill press, milling machines, radial drills, lathes, and CNC machining centers as needed so as to repair existing tooling, manufacture new tooling and/or run production · Blue print reading · Measuring to close tolerances using a variety of measurement devices · Safely executing job responsibilities using proper PPE · Maintaining and repairing weld and assembly fixtures, stamping dies, and press brake tooling · Reading job sheets and complying with work instructions · Collecting product inspection results as required by inspection standards · Entering data to accurately complete transactions · Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and projects · Communicating and maintaining the safety, quality, and cleanliness standards set for the department · Running production or completing work for shipment to customer as needed · Maintaining tools and inspection devices to Tool & Die Standards
