Hiring Range: $30.33 - $37.41 hourly Salary Range: $30.33 - $40.95 hourly SummaryThe Water Maintenance Technician III performs semi-skilled to skilled work related to the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of municipal water distribution infrastructure.

This role requires demonstrated technical proficiency and is typically filled through internal promotion from Technician II, or by candidates with direct related industry experience.

Technicians at this level assist in the training and mentoring of Technician I and IIs.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Foreman.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties are representative of the work performed in this position.

Duties may not be all-inclusive.

Perform monthly water shut-offs.

Install, replace, and maintain water meters.

Conduct system pressure checks; detect, locate, and assist in the repair of water leaks within the distribution system.

Participate in the annual fire hydrant flushing program and assist with related maintenance and repairs.

Perform valve exercising activities and assist with necessary repairs.

Conduct utility locates for water mains, service lines, meters, valves, and Town-owned fiber optic infrastructure.

Assist with the repair of water main and service line breaks as directed.

Assist with the collection of water samples in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.

Support inspections related to certifications of occupancy.

Monitor SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems to ensure stability, security, and performance of water system operations; respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.

Analyze real-time and historical system data to identify trends or operational issues and recommend corrective actions as appropriate.

Operate equipment used in the treatment and processing of raw water, as assigned.

Conduct water quality testing, including chlorine residual, alkalinity, pH, and turbidity analysis, in accordance with established procedures and standards to ensure potability.

Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment in the performance of assigned duties.

Perform routine pre- and post-operation safety inspections; conduct minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment; maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records.

Adhere to all Town and Department safety policies and promote safe work practices.

Perform duties requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including work in confined spaces requiring ventilation to mitigate exposure to hazardous gases or fumes.
