Ford County Revised 8/22/2023 COUNTY APPRAISER Fund: Department: FLSA Status: Reports To: Job Status: Travel Required: Work Schedule: Position Summary: This is a supervisory position involving the administration and management of the Ford County appraisal department.

The county appraiser implements appraisal and administrative policy, outlines procedural and quality control standards and directs the employment, training and assigning of duties of department personnel.

This employee follows all statutory requirements and state guidelines pertaining to appraisal and has extensive knowledge of appraisal techniques and methods.

Essential Function Statement(s) Supervise the completion of all statutory duties Outline the procedures to be followed in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of the appraisal department Develop and implement policies as required Supervise the installation and maintenance of records and data relating to all property within Ford County Coordinate the assignment of appraisal and administrative duties to staff personnel including but not limited to reviewing appraisal methods, forms and procedural manuals used by the department Monitor and review each phase of the appraisal maintenance program Supervise the listing and appraisal of all real estate and personal property in the county Defend appraisal values during informal hearings, before the Hearing Officer Panel, Small Claims Division and State Board of Tax Appeals Correlate detailed statistical data and analyze fee appraisals and comparable sales as they may apply to specific parcels under appeal Attend Ford County Commission meetings and provide information as requested Responsible for budgetary control of the department and participate in the annual budget process Responsible for the preparation of the assessment roll, and certification of such roll, to the County Clerk Maintain favorable and continual contact with the State Property Valuation Department in the implementing of state specifications and guidelines MARGINAL FUNCTIONS Other related duties as necessary or required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience: More than three years of county appraisal and supervisory management experience is preferred.

Must have experience in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating KSCAMA appraisal programs.

Extensive knowledge of real estate and personal property appraisal methods and techniques with extensive knowledge of the different approaches to value and the methodology applicable to each approach.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must maintain a continuing educational program to meet state requirements for eligibility.
