Assistant Project Manager

Job Description Job Title: Assistant Project Manager FLSA Status Exempt Department: Operations Employment Status Full-Time Reports To: Project Executive Work Location Corporate or Regional Office Position Summary The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is the client's day-to-day single point of contact during the construction phase.

The APM is responsible for assisting with the execution and management of the Company's overall plan for the project.

Essential Responsibilities Project Kickoff Participate in assisting project turnover from estimating and assist the Project Manager in plan development and project execution.

Project Execution Assist in executing the project plan to meet specified quality, schedule, and budget expectations.

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the following: Maintain continuous communication with the Project Executive, Senior Project Manager, and Project Managers to review progress, discuss design changes, and resolve coordination, schedule, and priority issues.

Take initiative in working with all internal company departments including sales, estimating, detailing, accounting, purchasing, shop fabrication, field installation, and senior management.

Assist the Project Executive, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager in ensuring clear and concise RFIs are resolved and field dimensions are verified.

Assist the Project Executive, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager in informing each Production Department of budgeted hours and required delivery dates.

Coordinate vendor subcontracts for assigned projects.

Provide direction to on-site Superintendent/Foreman to help ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget.

Review detailing and purchasing budget status at least weekly.

Assist in developing project forecasts, schedules, change order estimates, and financial reports.

Monitor job costs weekly and review monthly WIP with senior management.

Prepare SOV and monthly billing information for Accounting.

Maintain excellent project records, reports, logbooks, and daily forms.

Project Closeout Close out all remaining documentation in accordance with the subcontract.

Conduct any final negotiations and collect any outstanding payments/invoices.

Demobilize the project and announce project completion to Management.

Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

Experience with general contractors and/or subcontractors and steel fabrication/erection is beneficial.

Experience / Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in project/construction management, field foreman work, or field engineering in a small-project environment.

Capable of working on projects ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

Experience in planning, budgeting, and/or assisting with large projects involving multiple trades and complex coordination of the construction process is beneficial.
