Rotary Drill Apprentice

A Rotary Drill Apprentice is an entry-level to mid-level field professional responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of rotary drilling rigs used to drill residential and commercial wells as well as monitoring, geothermal and multiple other drilling applications.

This role is highly physical, involving manual labor in various outdoor environments adhering to all safety protocols while efficiently completing various projects.

This industry demands highly skilled drillers who learn and understand geological conditions using air rotary techniques to drill in diverse environments while also specializing in different drilling techniques as their knowledge of the industry grows.

Licensing, training, a CDL, team building will all be essential to furthering the Rotary Drill Apprentices career here at Negleys.

Shift Structure: You will work a 4-day work week with, 10 to 12-hour days, starting at 6:00 AM.Weekly Hours: You will average 45 to 50 hours per week.Travel: Daily travel to and from various job sites is required.

You will be traveling in a company vehicle, often helping navigate or driving a support truck.Environment: This is a fully outdoor, hands-on role.

You must be prepared to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, mud, or cold).

Once you arrive at the job site, you are the driller's right hand, keeping the operation moving without interruption: Site Setup: Assist the lead driller in maneuvering and setting up the rig, unloading toolsClearing Drill Cuttings: Shovel away the constant pile of rock chips, sand, and dirt (cuttings) that the drilling rig forces out of the borehole so it doesn't pile up.Digging Mud Pits and Trenches: Manually dig and shape the pits and trenches needed to channel, hold, and recirculate the heavy drilling fluids and mud.Handling Steel & Tooling: Physically lift, carry, and connect heavy drill rods and casings (often weighing 50 to 75+ pounds) as the hole goes deeperRig Teardown: Break down the drilling rig, clean all tools, and reload everything back onto the company vehicle
